My Modsy Story: Creating a Design That Captured the Beauty Of Our Home

When Alberto and his partner moved their family into a Manhattan duplex, they loved the airy feeling of the space and wanted to make sure their decor complemented it perfectly.

Homeowner: Alberto A.

Spaces: Living Room and Bedroom

My Style: Mod Enthusiast

The Backstory

When Alberto and his partner bought a duplex in Manhattan, they were excited for their family to have a bright and open space in the city.

“We had just bought the duplex and we wanted to make sure we kept the open feeling that we fell in love with. But we struggled to find furniture that would fill the open floor plan and maintain that sense of openness while also making space feel inviting.” –Alberto

The Design Dilemma

Alberto and his partner wanted to find decor that captured the airy vibe of their family’s new home, but they worried about investing in foundational furniture they hadn’t seen in the space beforehand.

“We wanted to try the furniture in the setting before we actually bought it so we would be comfortable with size and scale.” –Alberto

The Modsy Moment

Working with a Modsy designer allowed Alberto and his partner to see their open concept living room and their bedroom with decor that not only fit in the space but also complemented the open feel of their house—creating two inviting rooms with an eclectic-meets-mid-century-modern vibe the couple loved for themselves and their family.

“Modsy was an essential service when it came to decorating our home. We wanted to know the scale of each item in the design and how those items worked together and seeing our room in 3D allowed us to do that. We also loved that the 3D designs we received were filled with items from popular brands like West Elm and Design Within Reach.” –Alberto

The Real Results

Now that Alberto and his family have a home filled with decor they love, they are excited for when they can entertain again.

“Our Modsy designs work great in our space. We love having people over to show it off and can’t wait to entertain again.” –Alberto

My Modsy Story: How I Transformed My Home Office Into a Glam Sanctuary

When E moved into a new house they were determined to turn a drab room into an inspiring home office that reflected their personal creativity and bold style. Knowing they needed help, E. took the plunge and started their design process with Modsy.

Homeowner: E. (That’s right, —just E.)

Spaces: Office

My Style:  Glam Collector

The Backstory

“When my spouse and I moved from a one-bedroom apartment in LA to a three-bedroom home in Tucson, AZ, we finally each got the chance to truly have our own space. Aside from being excited by how much more space we had—anything is big after living in a 700 square foot apartment during a global pandemic—I was excited to have a dedicated home office space. I knew I wanted my office to have a warm and luxurious feel and blend old-school glam with some funky and eclectic choices. But the office had carpet we weren’t ready to rip up, and the walls were also this neutral yellow-beige—but it really just looked like the color of nicotine-stained walls from smokers.”

“I’m a writer, and I make my living telling stories on the page—and I needed help from someone who tells stories through decor.”

The Design Dilemma

“I know my strengths and interior design ain’t one of them! With this in mind, I knew right away I’d need a little expert help for creating the glam office I wanted. In particular, I needed a designer to show me what I could do with color throughout the room—everything from selecting a wall color that would work with the carpeting to finding decor that would really shine in the space. I’m a writer, and I make my living telling stories on the page—and I needed help from someone who tells stories through decor.”

The Modsy Moment

“I had no idea how the online interior design thing was going to work out. I wasn’t sure a 3D design could incorporate everything I wanted for my space, or if a stranger on the internet could find decor I loved that felt like ME. But I knew I couldn’t create what I wanted for the space alone, so I gave Modsy a try. I was blown away when I first saw my designs. When I showed them to my partner, he said, ‘Dang, that’s super fancy. It looks just like you.’ And then I proceeded to copy the sharable link from my Modsy project and send my office designs to my closest friends, who all squealed with delight.

“I just loved how my designer took my general ideas and put them to work in a design I love. She even mocked up designs using different wall colors so I could see how different options looked!  She was also able to help answer incremental questions along the way as I was debating different furniture options. I couldn’t have asked for more from the whole experience. And it’s super fun to know that everyone loves this desk I bought, too!”

The Real Results

“I walk into my office every day and spend anywhere from 8-9 hours there. I just love being in the space. I’m not rich, but my glam office makes me feel super posh and luxurious. I love what I do, but I bust my butt for a living. And my designer has made the space I bust my butt in a total delight.

“Modsy gets a bonus six out of five stars from me, especially since my glam office coordinates with the other two rooms we had designed! And our designer even incorporated my spouse’s and my widely divergent tastes to a tee. I feel like we have a real home now—not to mention some sweet rugs that really tie the room together!

My Modsy Story: Creating an Uncluttered Space to Help Me Unwind

At the beginning of lockdown in 2020, busy attorney Jeremy found himself working from home in an empty apartment, with no time to decorate and a strong desire to get organized so he could unwind after a stressful day.

Homeowner: Jeremy J.

Spaces: Multiple Rooms

My Style: Mod Enthusiast

The Backstory

“I work as a finance attorney and keep very long hours—so, I like to keep my home very orderly so I don’t have to fuss over tidying and can relax after a long day. When the first lock-down started last year and I began working from home, it became especially important that my space felt well organized and inviting.”

“When the first lock-down started last year and I began working from home, it became especially important that my space felt well organized and inviting.”

The Design Dilemma

“Unfortunately for me, when the pandemic began I had completely emptied my apartment of everything in preparation for a change in decor. Bad timing. Now I was stuck working from home with no furniture, in the middle of a global crisis. I felt completely overwhelmed and needed all the design help I could get.”

The Modsy Moment

“I know what I like when I see it, so when I found out about Modsy I was excited to try a design service where I could see the entire design for my exact space before making purchases. I found the style quiz to be incredibly in-depth and helpful—letting me know that my designer would pick out decor that was exactly what I like.

Collaborating with my designer was great. Together we created the orderly, neat, and uncluttered look I love while still keeping the space warm and inviting through the color scheme and the lighting.

They were especially helpful with the design of my open living-dining room—creating a design that delineated my living area from my dining area while still keeping the whole look cohesive and feeling open. My designer took my feedback and made my apartment feel like a home.”

My Modsy Story: Designing My First Open-Concept Layout From Scratch

When Sara found an apartment that reflected her new, more “grown-up” lifestyle, she was excited to move in and start a new phase of life. But she was uncertain how to create a cohesive look for the empty open-concept living-dining room.

Homeowner: Sara M.

Spaces: Open Living-Dining Room

My Style: Mod Visionary

The Backstory

“I’d been living in the same apartment for years after graduating college when I finally decided it was time to move. I wanted to upgrade my living space and personal interior design style at the same time to reflect my new, more grown-up life. I was so excited when I found a beautiful apartment with a large open-concept living-dining room, but I knew my assortment of college-era Craigslist furniture would not work in my new space.”

The Design Dilemma

“In the process of moving, I got rid of almost all my old furniture—I wanted my new apartment to be a fresh start where I could fill the space with all new items that showcased my personal style. But I’m no interior designer, and I quickly became overwhelmed at the prospect of designing my large living-dining room alone.

I’ve never lived in an open-concept space before, so I really had no idea how I was going to create separate zones for the dining and living areas that worked together as a cohesive whole. Because I was also coming into space with almost no furniture, I needed to find a design that worked quickly, which was very intimidating!”

“I’m no interior designer, and I quickly became overwhelmed at the prospect of designing my large living-dining room alone.”

The Modsy Moment

“I’d considered hiring a traditional interior decorator, but in the middle of COVID, having a stranger come into my home didn’t seem like a safe choice. Luckily, I knew of a few online interior design services and I decided I would feel more comfortable working with a designer remotely. After doing some research, I found that Modsy’s design packages offered the right level of design help for my living-dining room project.

The style quiz I took at the beginning of my project really reassured me that I’d get the right style for my space. Receiving two initial designs at the same time meant I was able to quickly decide on layout and decor options—helping visualize exactly how the different areas of the room would flow together. Finally, the 3D Editor tool helped me tweak my designs and really hone in on what I wanted the space to look like.”

“Receiving two initial designs at the same time meant I was able to quickly decide on layout and decor options”

The Real Results

“Before Modsy, I had this big, empty, open living space that I had no idea how to layout. But having some expert help and seeing different design options really got the ball rolling for me.

Modsy made it easy for me to see the full potential of my apartment by collaborating with me on a great design. When it came time for me to renew my lease, I did so without giving it a second thought. I’m just so at peace in my space and love my design so much, and it’s uplifting simply to be here—I can’t imagine moving anytime soon. I can’t wait to start having guests again so I can show off space and how at home I feel in it.”

But the couple struggled to find upscale, pet-proof furniture that lived up to the formal feel of the space while also having a coastal vibe.

The Solution: Working with a Modsy designer, the couple got help selecting furniture that could not only withstand the sandy paws of their beachy dog, Gunner, but also perfectly complemented the architecture of their home and added coastal charm. Additionally, their designer created a formal layout with conversational seating centered around the fireplace—creating ample seating for when the couple’s kids are visiting from college.

What Marsha and Dan Had to Say: “Our favorite part of the design process was seeing how our designer took our requests for durable furnishings and a casual beach look and seamlessly married them with the formal architecture.” –Marsha and Dan

But when two of their children moved to college, they decided it was time for a style upgrade. However, Lisa didn’t know what style of decor would work best for thier space or how to integrate the family heirlooms she wanted to keep.

The Solution: Lisa’s designer selected Mid-Century Modern foundational furniture for her living room, which turned out to be the perfect style for her eclectic home. The warm wood tones of the furniture complemented her heirloom belongings, while the sleek modern silhouettes of each piece didn’t distract from her keepsakes.

What Lisa Had to Say: “The whole Modsy experience helped me tap into my own creativity and bring more of my own vision and personality into my living room design. I literally bought everything I needed for the space in a single day!” –Lisa

Sandra’s Cheerful Mid-Century Modern Living-Dining Room

The Design Dilemma: When her mother passed away, Sandra was overcome with a tremendous sense of loss. She found herself alone in the home they had shared for many years and was reminded of her mother everywhere she looked.

Deciding a fresh start would help with the grieving process, she gave away most of her mother’s furniture, leaving the home a blank slate. But with limited design experience, thinking through how to fill and design her living-dining room proved quite difficult.

The Solution: Using Modsy, Sandra collaborated with a designer who helped her create a space filled with bright white furniture and cheery pops of color. The designer  selected translucent accent items making the space feel more open and airy feeling, giving Sandra the happy and healing vibe she wanted for her home.

Samantha’s Cozy Contemporary Living Room with a Rustic Twist

The Design Dilemma: When Samatha and her husband moved from a Traditional-style starter home to an open-concept Mid-Century ranch, they were excited for a fresh start. But they soon discovered that most of their old traditional furniture felt fussy and over-crowded in their new open living room space. Knowing she wanted a cozy modern vibe for her new home, but lacking the design knowledge to decorate on her own, Samantha decided to give online interior design a try.

The Solution: Using Modsy, Samantha was able to “try-on” different furniture and layout options in her open living room. Her designer showed her a couple layouts where she floated the furniture in the center of the space and paired it with a large area rug—creating a cozy living room “zone” that distinguished it from the dining and kitchen spaces in the large room. She selected contemporary-style foundational furniture with simplistic forms in rustic organic materials, giving the space the cozy and modern feel Samantha wanted but didn’t know how to create on her own.

What Samantha Had to Say: “Before our Modsy design, my husband and I were never in our living room, and now we both love sitting in there, watching TV or reading. Our dog loves the new space too—she’s a big fan of the rug, so she’s not on the cold floor, and the room is so much more inviting and open.” –Samantha

Sarah’s Formal Living Room With a Warm, Rustic Twist

The Design Dilemma: When Sarah’s family moved into a bigger house, they decided it would be nice to have both a formal living room and a more casual space for family hangouts. But Sarah needed help finding kid-proof decor that could stand up to her toddlers while still meeting her style needs.

“We wanted our living room to mostly be for adults and have a separate TV room in the basement for kids to destroy—I mean play in! That said, we are usually all together, so the living room needed to stand up to kids while still having a classic vibe.” –Sarah R.

The Solution: Sarah’s designer suggested a symmetrical layout for her living room design, which helped play up the formal quality of the space. Next, her designer selected performance-grade fabric for the traditionally inspired foundational furniture to ensure each piece could handle her kids. Finally, warm wood tones and accents in natural textures added a cozy warmth to the formal living room.

What Sarah Had to Say: “I had great interactions with my designer, the designs were super cool, and the shopping experience was a breeze.”

living room before and after

The solution: Amy’s Modsy designer utilized a subtle, neutral color scheme and contemporary style foundational furniture for a minimal and stylish look that wouldn’t distract from the room’s architecture. Instead of a coffee table, they used a storage ottoman to minimize any clutter and floated an oversized sofa in the space for maximum comfort while watching TV. Her designer also added two armchairs opposite the sofa with an additional ottoman for the conversational layout.

The design dilemma: After moving to a new city, Zoha and her husband started looking into the possibility of expanding their family. They decided the smart choice would be to kid-proof their living room design for their 9-year-old and any future tots. But they wanted to make sure that they found childproof furniture that worked for their new space before making investment purchases for their living room makeover—so they signed up with Modsy.

The solution: Zoha’s designer selected foundational furniture in performance fabrics and included natural textures in the accent pieces (like a jute ottoman). The sturdy organic materials had the dual purpose of standing up to the wear and tear of a young child while also tying in the large stone fireplace’s rustic quality. The designer was also careful to select furniture with smooth edges to prevent any injuries for rambunctious kids. They stuck to mid-century-modern-inspired silhouettes in a light color palette to keep the space feeling open and modern.

What Zoha had to say: “Our Modsy designer was absolutely amazing! She addressed all of our requests and went above and beyond.” –Zoha H.

John’s Contemporary Living Room With Optimal Seating

The design dilemma: When John and his wife decided it was time for a living room makeover, they knew they’d need to find comfortable seating solutions for their family of seven. They had a large sectional in mind but needed help selecting decor in the same contemporary style.

“We had a family room space that we wanted to make more comfortable, so we bought a big sectional sofa to replace the old sofas we had. But we needed help with design ideas for rugs, accent furniture, and wall art. Plus, I really wanted a stylish and unique reading chair.” –John P.

living room before and after

The solution: John’s designer began his living room transformation by selecting a soft gray wall color that complemented the fabric of his family’s new sectional while opening up the room. The designer brought in pops of pale blue for the area rug, wall art, and accent pillows which further expanded the openness of the space. They also added a statement wingback accent chair in the corner reading nook in the same tranquil blue-gray color palette. Finally John’s designer added poufs and ottomans throughout the space to ensure everybody in the family had a comfy place to sit.

What John had to say: “The entire experience could not have been any easier for my wife and me. Our designer was very responsive and really listened to what we wanted for our space. She offered beautiful and functional options for us to choose from. She even changed the wall colors for us!” –John P.

Sue’s Modern Studio in Rich Jewel Tones

The design dilemma: When Sue retired and moved into a cozy new apartment with an open floor plan, she wanted to make sure that she chose the right layout and furniture. Understanding she would know what she liked when she saw it, Sue decided to try online interior design—so she could “try-on” different layouts for her space in 3D.

living room before and after

The solution: Sue’s designer knew she wanted to see options for her space, so provided two designs with different color palettes—the first having soft neutrals and the second bold pops of jewel tones. In each design, her designer selected foundational furniture with clean silhouettes but kept the finishes organic. This choice gave the multi-functional room a streamlined but organic vibe, keeping the modern space from feeling too austere.

What Sue had to say: “The 3D designs were just what I needed to decide the look of my studio space. My designer was great to work with and selected the perfect products to choose from for my home. The whole process was fast and easy.” –Sue G.

Curious about which color palette Sue preferred? In the end she decided that jewel tones were a little more her style, but seeing different options is always helpful for the decision making process.

Barbara’s Traditional and Comfortable Living Room

The design dilemma: When her two sons left the nest, Barbara decided it was time to spread her interior design wings and try a new style for her living room. She knew she wanted ample and comfortable seating for when her family could come to visit again. But she struggled to decide on a new look for her living room makeover. Especially daunting to her was the task of finding the right decor for her space.

“I’m horrible at room accessorizing and really loved getting some guidance with how to add decorative accents.” –Barbara

living room before and after

The solution: To address Barbara’s request for ample and comfortable seating, her designer created a conversational layout by placing twin sofas on either side of an accent chair. Additionally the designer added a bench and reading nook in different corners of the room. They then filled the seating areas with plenty of cozy pillows and poufs for added texture and comfort. Finally, they added several small, traditionally inspired decorative ornaments throughout the space—like a pot of succulents with a rusted finish—to complement the traditional silhouettes of the foundational furniture.

What Barbara had to say: “I do not have an eye for design, so this was the perfect solution for me. Modsy really hit the mark with my style. I was very pleased with their flexibility, responsiveness, and affordability. It was a fun pandemic activity!”

Lisa and her husband were living with the furniture they bought when they moved into their house 18 years ago. After raising three kids in that home, their furniture was a bit worn, to say the least. When two of her kids moved out of the house this past year, Lisa decided it was time to freshen up the living room and turn one of the kid’s bedrooms into her office.

“When we first moved into our house, we had two little kids and just wanted something sturdy—the furniture was just about function. By the time they moved out, I was sick of our space, and I actually started looking at new houses online. But then I was like—I don’t need to move, I just need to re-decorate!”

My Modsy Story: How I Used Design to Prepare My Family for Change

Returning to school after years of being a working mom inspired Brooke to tidy her home design and make it easier for her family to manage.

Name: Brooke S.

Occupation: Social media consultant, studying interior design

Location: Topsfield, MA

Her Style: Contemporary Connoisseur

The Backstory

Brooke was preparing for a big transition, going from working mom to entering an intensive interior design program at Rhode Island School of Design. But before she started her new life as a student she wanted a home makeover that would reflect her ambition and better suit her family.

“I’m a married mother of 3 teens and 2 dogs and am transitioning from working to being a student again. I knew that my career change would also mean big changes for the whole family, and all that change could feel destabilizing, especially in these uncertain times. My husband and I wanted to add a sense of order and certainty to our lives. We thought finally getting the house decluttered and nicely designed would set our family up to face these changes in stride.”

“I’m a married mother of 3 teens and 2 dogs and am transitioning from working to being a student again. I knew that my career change would also mean big changes for the whole family, and all that change could feel destabilizing, especially in these uncertain times.”

The Design Dilemma

Once Brooke knew that she was ready for a change at home, the whole family was excited to help. The trouble was they couldn’t agree on what to do for their individual and combined spaces.

Brooke’s 3D living room design

“My husband and I both have strong opinions about interior design. We both have a lot of family heirlooms like my dining table that we wanted to incorporate into the living and dining rooms, but we couldn’t agree on the right layout or what new items to purchase. Meanwhile, my daughters wanted to change their bedroom decor to something more grown-up. But, I needed to stick to a budget, so we didn’t always see eye-to-eye on what furniture purchases to prioritize.

“We decided a 3rd party would be helpful. Someone who could come in and show us options for our home, so we could choose the right pieces and layout together as a family. That way, if one of us didn’t like something, it wasn’t that someone else had the wrong opinion—there’d be an expert to defer to and help us make the right choices.

“Additionally, with lockdown in place, traditional interior design wasn’t only costly but a health risk. As an aspiring interior designer, I strongly believe that interior design should be affordable and convenient, so I decided the best choice was Modsy!”

The Modsy Moment

When Brooke saw her designs, she was reassured that she’d made a good investment for the road ahead.

“Seeing all our spaces so nicely organized was terrific. Our Modsy designer found thoughtful ways to include my husband and my heirloom pieces into our layout. Our kids’ rooms looked amazing and so grown-up, and our designer kept our budget for their spaces in mind. I was especially impressed with the designs they did for one of my daughters, who has the smallest room. The designer added white furniture and a lighter wall color, which opens it up a lot. Like the rest of the designs in our house, her room design was perfect. Plus, each space had storage, which any parent or pet owner will tell you is a must for keeping your space tidy.”

The Real Results

When Brooke started her Modsy journey, she needed help getting her family to agree on the right design choices to smooth her transition to being a student. But now that she and her family have spaces they love, she sees more value in her designs than she anticipated.

“Before we used Modsy, our house never felt complete, but now every time I come home and see how neatly put together our house is, I feel so relaxed. Plus, the designer’s storage solution keeps everything looking great, so I stay relaxed even with my busy school schedule, teenagers, and pups.

“It really looks and feels like a high-end design, but it was so affordable! I can’t tell you how great it is for myself and my family to see our personalities reflected in our home through the design. It’s so inspiring to experience first-hand what good interior design can do for a family during COVID, especially as I enter into my new life as an interior designer.”

Our Modsy Story: How We Created a Perfectly Cohesive and Cozy Mountain Getaway

Yates & Liz wanted to carve out a little slice of heaven for people to get away during hectic times. For them, that meant finding a design service that could turn a dated farmhouse into a cozy retreat.

Homeowners: Yates & Liz

Space: Multi-Room Vacation House

Our Style: Modern Rustic

Read on to learn how Modsy designer Becky S. helped the couple find the look for their mountain getaway.

The Backstory

When Yates & Liz bought a private farmhouse atop Old Forge Mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains, they did so with the vision of creating a beautiful vacation rental retreat where guests could hunker down and relax. The house was entirely empty and they needed help coming up with a design that would ensure the interior of the house was as beautiful as its scenic surroundings.

“It was important to us that the entire house be designed all at once because we wanted a cohesive look for the entire space instead of piecemeal looks for the individual spaces that wouldn’t flow together.”

The Design Dilemma

Yates & Liz knew from the beginning that they needed an expert eye to help them achieve the look and feel they wanted for thier farmhouse.

“The space was super large and dated. It easily could have become a hodgepodge mess even with lots of love and great intentions. Getting help from a professional designer was so important.”

Designer insight:

“From the beginning, I knew Yates & Liz wanted the space to function as a vacation rental, so the goal was to make every room cohesive but still fun and inviting. The biggest challenge (though, a really fun one!) was making sure each room had a unique look and feel but that they all still visually worked together as a cohesive whole.” –Becky

The Modsy Moment

When the couple discovered Modsy, they knew they’d found the answer to their design conundrum. Bundling each room into the same project and collaborating with the same designer was exactly what he needed to achieve a cohesive look for his entire farmhouse.

“Having the ability to see designs for each room before making purchases was key. This helped us feel confident that, as we purchased pieces, they would fit a cohesive vision for the whole house.”

How Modsy Helped Yates & Liz

Yates & Liz loved that their designer, Becky, was not only able to make each room in the house work together but also that she took their ideas in new directions that they wouldn’t have thought of alone.

“Once we saw my designer’s plan, we started getting really excited about bringing it to life. We loved that we were able to contribute ideas—like using a green sofa in the main living space—and our designer was able to incorporate them and take the idea to the next level.”

Designer Insights:

“Layering colors and textures is key when you want a cozy, lived in, yet very unique and interesting space. For Yates & Liz’s house, I focused on artfully mixing colors, textures, and materials in a way that made the spaces feel intentional. And speaking of color—the green sofa is one of my favorite parts of the whole design. That, paired with a lot of natural textures in accent chairs and fun pops of colors in rugs is what stole the show!” –Becky

The Real Results

Yates & Liz ended up with an upscale private farmhouse rental with a mid-century-meets-cozy vibe. The house’s relaxed and fun atmosphere makes it easy for guests to soak in the bucolic Blue Ridge Mountains scenery. If you ever find yourself staying there, you’ll have the option of visiting the many nearby towns, but you may find it hard to leave this charming mountain retreat.

“We’re thrilled with how everything turned out. It’s better than we could have imagined, and working with our Modsy designer, Becky, on such a large project helped us achieve what we never could have done on our own.”

Designer Insights:

“One thing I love about working at Modsy is  having the opportunity to work on so many different types of spaces. Yates’ project was exciting because he wanted his rental to be full of fun, vibrant, and cozy vibes, and we were able to make that happen—making each room feel unique while keeping a cohesive vision for the whole house!” –Becky

My Modsy Story: How I Filled My House with Cozy Curated Style

Without the curatorial skills to create the cozy feel she wanted for her home Deana was left with an empty house and no idea where to get started.

Read on to learn how she filled her empty house with designs she loves and get key insights from the Modsy designer that brought her space together.

Homeowner: Deana

Room: Whole House

My Style: Rustic Warmth

The Backstory

Deana loves home decorating shows and feels passionate about design. But, like many people, when it came to putting together a new home, she found herself stooped.

“I’m a big fan of HGTV, and I always have strong opinions on every space they do. I’ll either say, “OMG, I love that,” or “ew no, that’s gross,” but I never react impartially to any design. That said, I’m not a decorator, so I’m sure you can imagine that when my husband and I moved from a 425 square ft apartment to a 2,600 square foot house with no furniture, I didn’t know where to start.”

The Design Dilemma

Deana knew 2 things at the outset of her design journey. 1 she had trouble putting a space together alone, and 2 she’d know a good design when she saw it but she needed some outside help to get started. Determined to find a great design for her new home, she started researching online design.

“I’ve never been a natural at getting the home look I am going for. For example, I like a cozy vibe in my spaces, so I tend to overcrowd rooms when I design them on my own.”

“I’ve never been a natural at getting the home look I am going for. For example, I like a cozy vibe in my spaces, so I tend to overcrowd rooms when I design them on my own. But for my new home, I knew I wanted something that felt curated but cozy without being crowded. So I started looking for help online.

My search for interior design services took me to a Facebook group. People there raved about Modsy. After deliberating for a while, I decided to purchase 6 rooms.”

Designer Insights:

“Deana was having trouble selecting and coordinating the right items for her home to create a cohesive look. So I helped her “try on” many different options for her rooms and showed her various wall colors to land on the perfect style for her home.” –Cassandra, Deana’s Modsy Designer

The Modsy Moment

Once she had sent all her Modsy project details, Deana was very excited to see the results.

“I couldn’t picture how things should look on my own. But, when I saw the designs, I was in love!”

“I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous waiting for my Modsy designs to come back. I just wasn’t sure they’d be able to deliver on all my hopes for the space, especially when I couldn’t picture how things should look on my own. But, when I saw the designs, I was in love! They were exactly what I had asked for but couldn’t visualize on my own. I began ordering furniture almost immediately.”

Designer Insights:

“Deana has a really cozy personal style, and I kept that in mind when putting all her rooms together. I wanted to elevate that coziness with some more traditional foundational furniture in each space to really help create a cohesive and inviting feel to her whole home.

For example, in her living room, the sofa and love-seat are from the same Crate & Barrel set. They add a touch of formality to the room, but the armchairs and poufs feel more fun and casual. Together these items create a look that elevates the space without making it feel stuffy.” –Cassandra, Deana’s Modsy Designer

The Real Results

Now that Deana has used Modsy she’s having a real HGTV “OMG I love that” moment of her own.

“I loved my entire Modsy experience, I especially love the design of my bedroom vanity area. My designer used a lovely desk with lots of storage, a cozy highback chair, and a beautiful mirror with mother-of-pearl inlay to bring the space together.”

“I loved my entire Modsy experience, I especially love the design of my bedroom vanity area. My entire life, I’ve gotten ready hunched over a mirror in the corner of my room, and I’ve never had a dedicated space just for getting ready. My designer used a lovely desk with lots of storage, a cozy highback chair, and a beautiful mirror with mother-of-pearl inlay to bring the space together. (I’m a huge fan of pearls, so I was delighted that they included the mirror–it is SO beautiful.) Having a cozy and pampering space like this is incredibly wonderful. It really epitomizes how my whole house feels after using Modsy–like a home.”
